Cable St 75th Anniversary events

Cable Street 75
75th anniversary of the historic battle against the Blackshirts
On Sunday October 2 a march and rally will be held in Tower Hamlets to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street when Oswald Mosley’s fascist Blackshirts were routed in the East End of London.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the event will not be affected by the 30-day ban on marches in the borough imposed by the Home Secretary in response to the planned English Defence League march on September 3.
The Cable Street 75 event is now supported by over 40 trade union, political and community organisations, including the Socialist History Society.
The march assembles at 11.30am at the junction of Brahman Street and Leman Street (Aldgate East Tube).
It will then proceed to St George’s in the East on Cable Street for a rally at 1pm featuring national trade union and local community speakers.
Full details can be found on our website at http://www.cablestreet75.org.uk.
